Welcome

We are The Oxford Singers, a choir for popular and contemporary music. The group takes on pop, funk, rock anthems, jazz, musical theatre, film music and much more. In the decade since its formation, The Oxford Singers has brought together hundreds of singers of a variety of experience levels. With friendly and light weekly rehearsals, we aim to make music together, build confidence, and above all have fun!

Open to All

The Oxford Singers is, and always will be, open to anyone who likes to sing. We do not hold auditions or require any former choral experience. Our members all have different levels of ability and experience, and we are accessible and fun for singers at any level. Members don’t need to be able to read music as we learn all of our songs by ear, although sheet music is always provided. We welcome Oxford University students, Oxford Brookes students, ex-students and non-students.

Rehearsals

Choir rehearsals are held every Thursday from 7 to 9pm in the Old Library at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford OX2 6QA.

All rehearsals are open to potential new members, so feel free to come and join the fun at any time!

The Oxford Singers rehearses during Oxford University term times, and typically holds concerts at the ends of Michaelmas (winter) and Hilary (spring) terms. In the past year, we have recorded songs in lieu of concerts, and in Trinity (summer) term we usually have more relaxed rehearsals and no concert, to allow for the added stress of exams for our student members.

Songs

The Oxford Singers perform a wide variety of popular music, and we are always open to new song suggestions. We sing a mixture of piano accompanied and a Capella songs. For members who are interested in arranging music, we can provide feedback and even sing your arrangements in choir! A large portion of our repertoire was arranged by current and former members.

To find our sheet music for this term, check out the Members Only link. Email us at webmaster@oxfordsingers.org if you require login details for access.

Past Performances

The Oxford Singers usually hold large concerts each Michaelmas and Hilary term, showcasing a variety of performances from choir members, including the Small Ensemble and solo performances. Check out our Concerts tab to for recordings of our past performances!

We are also proud of our enjoyable and successful tradition in previous years of busking for charity during Trinity term. During the summer, we take to the streets of Central Oxford to raise money for our nominated charity. Each year The Oxford Singers fundraise several hundred pounds for charities including Cancer Research UK, the Against Malaria Foundation, and Oxfordshire Mind.
